Chikkamagaluru: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), soon after introducing 3G service in the district, will introduce Wi-Fi hotspots at a hundred places, according to Karnataka general manager Satyanarayana.
There has been a requirement for 32 mobile towers, out of which ten will soon be set up. Spots like Bolarameshwara circle, Hosamane extension, Hiremagaluru, Halasumane, Tenginamane, Balehonnur, Mudigere town, Bootanakadu and Kodluvalli, will soon have Wi-Fi facility and points for setting up towers are being identified.
Towers to provide 2G, BTS towers, 3G towers and code division multiple access (CDMA) towers are being erected. Among the taluks in the district, Koppa, Sringeri and Mudigere are the maximum income-generating ones. They bring in 70% of the revenue for the BSNL, he has informed.
