Chikkamagaluru: Kalvakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao, chief minister of Telangana, accompanied by wife Shobha Rani, arrived in Sringeri on Wednesday afternoon.
They visited Shri Sharada Peetha and offered special pujas. They paid visits to Shri Shakti Ganapati, Shri Sankaracharya and Torana Ganapati temples also.
Dr V R Gowrishankar, administration officer of the Math, and other officials organized a ‘poorna kumbha’ welcome in their honour and escorted them.
Later they visited Narasimha Vana and held an audience with Shri Bharati Tirtha Swamiji and his junior Shri Vidhushekhara Bharati Swamiji. Incidentally, the latter hails from Telangana.
He explained to them the plans of a grand ‘aayuta chandi yaaga’ to be held in Telangana very soon, to be offered for world welfare. About 50,000 persons are expected to converge on the occasion. A mass lunch will also be organized. Informed sources said that the chief minister is taking care of all expenses from his personal resources.
Earlier, the chief minister’s entourage arrived in Mangaluru airport and flew by helicopter to Sringeri. It was described as a private visit.
At the Koradakal helipad, they were welcomed by Chikkamagaluru revenue assistant commissioner and subdivisional magistrate R Snehal and Mudigere tahsildar Sharadamba. The district police held a guard of honour to chief minister Rao.
