Chinese cabinet appoints, removes officials

Beijing, Feb 15 (IANS) China’s Cabinet announced the appointment and removal of several senior government officials on Monday.

The state council appointed Xiao Yaqing as head of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC), removing Zhang Yi from the post, XInhua reported.

Xiao will no longer hold the post of deputy secretary-general of the state council.

Gong Qinggai was removed from the post of deputy head of the Taiwan affairs office.

The Cabinet also relieved Liu Yanguo from the post of deputy head of the state administration of Foreign Experts Affairs.
