Class 9 Student Allegedly Beaten To Death By Shopkeeper In Delhi
NEW DELHI: A class 9 student was beaten to death by a shopkeeper in Mayur Vihar in east Delhi, his family has alleged.
The incident occurred when Rajat Menon, 15, was on his way for tuition last evening. The teen, according to two of his friends who were accompanying him, got into an argument with a betel shop owner, a few metres away from his house.
Following the argument, the shopkeeper along with some of his friends allegedly attacked Rajat.
The alleged attackers, Rajat’s friends claim, later took him to a hospital after he collapsed. He later died allegedly due to the injuries suffered during the assault.
Rajat’s family claims that they were informed about the incident about an hour later by his friends. After searching hospitals near by they found him at Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital and informed the police.
Doctors have reportedly told police that there are no external injuries on Rajat’s body. Cops are waiting for postmortem report before making any arrests.
