Conference of tri-services training commanders in Bengaluru from Monday

Bengaluru, Nov 29 (IANS) A two-day annual conference of commanders of tri-services’ training commands would be held here from Monday, an official statement said on Sunday.

“Air Marshal S.R.K. Nair, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Headquarters Training Command, IAF, Bengaluru, will chair the conference while south naval command’s flag officer commanding-in-chief and army training command’s general officer commanding-in-chief will attend,” the statement said.

The annual interaction among training commands of the three armed forces is held in rotation at the army training command at Shimla in Himachal Pradesh, south naval command at Kochi in Kerala and IAF’s training facility in Bengaluru.

The conference will review the progress on issues raised last year, ascertain their effectiveness and discuss fresh proposals.

“The conference is an ideal forum for the staff of the three training commands to interact on professional matters, training methodologies and initiatives,” the statement added.

Initiated in November 1997 with an aim to evolve a common training directive, the conference aims to identify areas of cooperation among the three services in training and identify facilities for mutual use and greater synergy.
