Cong hits back at Modi, says people will judge the “dagabaaz”

New Delhi (PTI): Angry at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s attack on Sonia Gandhi, Congress today shot back, saying people will judge the “asli dagabaaz” who did not keep the promises he made to the people.

“The country will judge who is “hawabaaz” (one who does empty talk) and “dagabaaz” (a betrayer),” Congress chief spokesman Randeep Surjewala told reporters.

Surjewala said Modi had promised before the Lok Sabha polls that the government will deposit Rs 15 lakh in every citizen’s bank account from the black money brought back from foreign tax havens, an assertion that was later termed as mere “jumla” (platitude) by his party president.

Besides, Modi had assured farmers they would get 50 per cent profit over the cost of their produce, but their plight only worsened and some of them were forced to commit suicide, he said.

“So it is for the people to judge who is ‘asli dagabaaz’ (real betrayer),” he said.

Targeting the Prime Minister on One Rank, One Pension (OROP) for ex-servicemen, he said, while the war veterans have been agitating for the past 90 days, the government did not notify its watered down scheme before the model code of conduct kicked in with the announcement of Bihar polls.

Surjewala said people had also understood by now that the slogans of “good governace” and “ease of doing business” were “hawabaazi” as the state of the economy was deteriorating with each passing day.

The Congress spokesman advised Modi not to stoop low while targeting his detractors as by doing that he would lower himself in the eyes of the people.

The Congress’ counteroffensive came soon after the Prime Minister hit back at Sonia Gandhi over her “hawabaaz” barb against him, asserting the “scamsters are unnerved” due to the tough stance of the government on black money and were putting “roadblocks” in its pursuit of the reforms agenda.

Attacking the Congress, Modi said, the “hawalabaaz” (scamsters) were seeking answers from him even as his government was going about plugging leakages in schemes and enriching the nation’s coffers.

  1. The Gujarathi CM jumped into New Delhi with his political comrades without much idea about the sinking world economy, but promised totally impossible economic promises. To make the matters worse, the RSS-VHP-BD guided BJP Government showed the real color of minority hatred from day one; besides, to make the matters worse, the beef ban touching the dinner plate of the masses in India has created disorder in India.

  2. Can someone remind ’44-seats’ party and its supporters that congress is not a opposition party? It is thrown out of power in almost everywhere with the exception of Karnataka and a few other insignificant places!!

    • Original R.Pai : Cong hits back at Modi, says people will judge the “dagabaaz”.

Dear Original RSS, you have forgotten that the BJP was a two seat party.

Secondly, to call a “Dagabaz” a Dagabaz, is not a sin. Democratic decent does not require the numbers. It is the right of the opposing political party to point out the lies of the ruling party. You must not forget that after the emergency, in 1979 Congress smashed you all within a period of 28 months.

After the murder of Indira Gandhi due to RSS hobnobbing with Akali Dal and its militant outfit Khalistan Militants, the very Indira Gandhi’s murder, who was massively defeated by the people for imposing emergency a few years earlier, gave the highest ever number of seats in the parliament to the Congress in the history of India. Please stop basking in the limelight of Congress defeat, for Congress would rise again from the ashes like a phoenix!

However, at that point of time I will not be mean to insult the BJP for electoral defeat, for I am well coversant of the system of democracy!

    • 1:5 has a single point agenda of WRITING against the PM. Mr Matthew, what do you know about our PM? Just stop yapping ketto? – Mr. Dronu Sugam to Mr. AS mathew

“Yapping’! Such refined language and that too from a learned ಡಾಕ್ಟ್ರೆ! Well, I don’t know what Mr. Mathew knows about the Pravaadi Sevaka. However, this is what I know about him. So hang on to the seats of your flying carpet… I mean.. Chaddi.

      1. He was denied a visa by the USA & UK amongst other countries.

      2. He says he has a 56 inch chest whereas in fact, from his pics it looks like his waist qualifies for the 56 inch tag! (It is also to be noted that Arnold Schwarzenegger at his prime had a chest of 58 inches)

      3. He is all talk (black money hasn’t come back, no 15 lakhs for you and I & Joker Rampa is excluded, 1 USD has NOT become 1 IRS etc etc) and is best suited for delivering bhashanas to his original bhakthas in ‘phoreen’!

      4. he earned quite a reputation by observing ‘maunavratha’ during the Godhra riots of 2002! some even go to the extent of saying that he was directly responsible for ………………. but never mind that.

      5. Coming from very humble beginnings, he even went to the extent of sporting a monogrammed suit when he met the POTUS sometime in early 2015. The other notables who have indulged in such eccentric/megalomaniac behaviour are Idi Amin, Hosni Mubarak and Evander Holyfield. Ahem! Not bad at all for a ‘tussnami’ in a chai-cup, eh?
