Congress CMs, Mamata, Jaya skip NITI Aayog meeting

New Delhi (PTI): Chief Ministers of nine Congress- ruled states as well as those of West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha today kept away from NITI Aayog’s Governing Council meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss various issues, including the land Bill.

The second meeting of the NITI Aayog’s Governing Council, was, however, attended by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, besides those from NDA-ruled states.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was among those who attended the meeting. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Tamil Nadu’s J Jayalalithaa, Odisha’s Naveen Patnaik and Uttar Pradesh’s Akhilesh Yadav were among those who skipped the meet.

The Governing Council, which comprises all Chief Ministers and Lt Governors of Union Territories, is headed by the Prime Minister.

The meeting was called by Modi to deliberate on various issues, including the contentious land acquisition Bill.

The council was also expected to deliberate on issues like poverty, health and centrally sponsored schemes (CSS).

Congress leaders had earlier said the party chief ministers would not attend the meeting to check the government from pushing ahead with the controversial land Bill.

“Since there is no meeting ground between the views of the Congress and the government on the measure, there was no use of the party Chief Ministers attending the meet,” Congress spokesperson R P N Singh said.

Reports earlier had it that the Congress Chief Ministers have written identical letters to the Parliamentary Committee going into the measure informing it that their state is opposed to the provisions of the Bill.

They have also told the Committee that they would like “no amendments” to be to made to the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.

They have held that the amendments go against the interests of farmers and take away the rights of tribal communities and gram sabhas.

Congress has governments in nine states — Kerala, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarkhand, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram.

The Chief Ministers have pointed out that the 2013 Act had been passed unanimously by Parliament in September 2013 after over two years of nation-wide consultations and debate.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi had led a march of leaders of 14 opposition parties to President Pranab Mukherjee during the Budget session to protest against the bill.

  1. The globetrooter is a lost man.

He looks lost, he behaves as completely lost.

Not long ago he heaped scorn on the UPA-ruled Central Government. He laughed at the then Central Government as ineffective, incompetent, and impotent.

Not to be left behind all the blind believers, including some on this forum, made fun of some of the brilliant minds that managed the UPA.

But it takes brilliant minds to understand and appreciate the work of brilliant people.

How can the gobetrotting wallah and the like-minded political illiterates understand that there is a huge difference between eye-popping newspaper headlines and the actual boring complex governing process? They won’t.

And now that the globetrotting wallah has proved himself to be, ineffective, incompetent, and impotent on various policies and initiatives, he is lost.

Slowly and steadily his many followers have stopped praising him.

In the meantime Adani’s holding companies are paying 3% tax in Mauritius.

  2. In the eyes of Manga l and his group, Modiji was never an effective or good leader. This is what they said before the election, on the day of election and after the election!! So, no point in trying to convince these illiterates on the importance of giving BJP govt a chance to perform before judging.

On the other hand, it’s sad to see Congress ruled states skipping this Governing Council meeting to discuss various issues. You don’t have to agree with PM. But, what stops you from attending and providing your inputs? Well, this is why India continues to be a third world nation!! Congress and its loyalists like MangaL probably see nothing wrong with this third world culture!!

    • Congress and its loyalists like MangaL probably see nothing wrong with this third world culture!! – (G)Rampai 🙂

Spoken like a true Chaddi loyalist to the RSS ARMY – which boasts of top defense experts such as Mohana Bhagawatha, Scooter Gadkari, Aroona JetLee, Sushma Swaraja, Physics teacher – RajaNatha Singha, Yale Grad – Smriti Irani, Mundu Venku Naidu et al. I would have included that fellow called Advani but then – his sun has been set by none other than our Pradhana Sevaka.

Except for those bantams strutting around in those topis AND twirling those canes and that TOO in those ridiculous chaddis, what arms training do those RSS have? WHY is our Rampa equating RSS’akka with his infamous BoddappaNNA, Israel’anna etc? Where have they bombed? Malegaon, Samjauhta Express, Babri Masjid besides many other places? And didn’t that lady officer say that she was to “go easy” on the RSS chaddis who were indicted?

Hahahahaha. Bokka enklena Piradhana Swayamsevaka panpuni……no this, no that.. au.. undu.. lang-passk.. poori!

      Give THEM a chance?

Hahahahaha. 3-5 days back our Amitha Shaha(bano) said that it will take 25 years before “acche din” will come back. Our Suit Boot Pradhana Sevaka said THEY ARE already HERE…..(Psst:100 days and 150 days). Gastric-Banded Aroona Jet Lee says they are here to stay. Sushma has found hers. And YOU, well, you don’t even NEED to know Hindi or Urdu or Konkani. Just some “Yo Man, Aye man” will do.

Hahhahaha. Rampu.. if ONLY you could stop being SO funny I could stop laughing and get some sleep. :):) But then, pl. don’t mind me. JUST keep JOKING! 🙂

    • @ Joker Praveena Pinto – Your masters would fully agree with Ashoka in converting everyone to one religion. They probably disagree with what that religion should be!! – RampaNNA

      See ya Rampu,

You are quite happily settled in the land of my alleged “masters”, right? so why not just reach out and ask them?
