Congress demands Raje’s resignation over Lalit Modi links

New Delhi, June 26 (IANS) The Congress on Friday reiterated its demand for the resignation of Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje over her alleged financial links with “absconder” former IPL chief Lalit Modi and claimed that BJP leaders have “full liberty” to indulge in corruption.

Congress spokesperson Ajoy Kumar, addressing a press conference here, said there is “direct evidence that Vasundhara Raje, Lalit Modi and (Vasundhara’s son) Dushyant Singh and his wife are partners in Niyant Heritage Hotel Pvt Ltd.”

Citing Vasundhara Raje’s 2013 Election Commission affidavit, he said that it showed that she owned 3,280 shares in Niyant Heritage Hotel.

He said that as chief minister of Rajasthan, Vasundhara Raje has “direct financial dealings with Lalit Modi who is a bhagoda and absconder, and charged by the Enforcement Directorate with Rs.1,700 fraud”.

He said that Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had said that Lalit Modi has 15 ED notices issued to him.

Taking a dig at the BJP claim of non-corruption – “na khayenge na khane dengey”, he said that BJP leaders in reality have “full liberty” to indulge in corruption.

Demanding Raje’s resignation, the Congress spokesperson said that the Election Commission affidavit “shows proof of their (Lalit Modi and Vasundhara Raje) links, and Vasundhara Raje has no right to sit even for one day in the chief minister’s seat. The Congress is demanding of the BJP that if not now (her resignation) then when”?

“If Vasundhara does not send in her resignation now, then when will she give it,” he said.
