Congress fields Deepa Dasmunsi against Mamata

New Delhi, March 18 (IANS) The Congress on Friday fielded former union minister Deepa Dasmunsi, wife of party leader Priyaranjan Dasmunsi, as its candidate from Bhowanipore against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for the forthcoming assembly polls in the state.

Dasmunsi, a minister of state for urban development during the United Progressive Alliance II, was among the 42 candidates for the multi-phase polls whose names were announced on Friday.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s grand nephew Chandra Kumar Bose as its candidate from Bhowanipore.
