Congress Sponsored Terrorism Destroying Coastal Districts – Mattar Rathnakar Hegde

Udupi: “The Congress sponsored terrorism is destroying the coastal districts”, alleged BJP District President Mattar Rathnakar Hegde. He was speaking at a press meet held at the BJP Office in Kadiyali here on July 12. A deliberate attempt has been made to uproot Hindu organisations and the Bharatiya Janata Party from the coastal Districts by utilising the government machinery. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has ordered the arrest of Hindu leaders and activists which seem to be an attempt in this direction. People from Kerala are coming to Dakshina Kannada and are assaulting people, such incidents are similar to the incidents being reported in Kannur.

Rathnakar Hegde further said, “Following the stabbing of Sharath, protests were held in BC Road in Mangaluru, the district administration imposed Section 144 to check the protests. As Sharath breathed his last at the hospital his body was taken to Bantwal in a procession. Stones were pelted from buildings on the procession and the police later intervened. The police instead of taking action on those involved in stone pelting, have booked Hindu leaders Sharan Pumpwell, Satyajit Suratkal, Harish Punja and others. Police later entered the house of Satyajit Suratkal with 100 men and searched the premises. The police had entered the premises without any woman police and searched the premises during the wee hours. It seems that the police were searching for a terrorist than a Hindu leader.

Rathnakar Hegde also said, “HJV Activist Ratnakar Shetty was assaulted while no arrests have been made in connection with the assault. Pavan was also assaulted, even though he had identified the accused no arrests have been made. SDPI activist Ashraf was murdered, there is no reference to the involvement of Hindu activists behind the attack but still, Hindu leaders have been framed. BJP has given 30 names of those involved in stone pelting but the police have not taken any action”.

The BJP will hold a protest to mark the killings of Hindu leaders in the coastal districts, the protest will be organised on July 13 at 2:30 pm near the Clock Tower, Udupi. BJP State President and Former CM B S Yeddyurappa, DK MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Udupi-Chikkamagluru MP Shobha Karandlaje and Karkal MLA Sunil Kumar will be participating in the protest. The BJP Yuva Morcha will be organising a bike rally from Malpe to mark the protest, he added.

Former MLA K. Raghupati Bhat, Araga Jnanendra, Yashpal Suvarna and others were present.
