Container Truck Rolls Over at Valachil Killing Five on Spot

Mangaluru: A truck carrying containers rolled over on an oncoming auto-rickshaw and car on the other side of the road at Valachchil, Farangipet killing 5 people on the spot, here on June 10.

The deceased have been identified as Mohammed Salam (24), Mohammed Sainal (30), Ahmed Hussain (32), Mohammed Nazir (24) and Mohammed Haneef (20) from Bantwal. The injured were admitted to the hospital in the city.

According to sources, the truck was plying from B C Road to Mangaluru at high speed. At Valachil, it hit the road divider and rolled over a car and auto rickshaw moving on the other side of the road.

According to the police, 5 people have died on the spot and 2 others injured in the mishap.

As soon as the accident took place, the driver of the container truck fled from the spot. Locals said that reckless driving by the truck driver is the cause of the accident.

The Arkula rural police have registered a case and search is on for the driver.
