Content driven films have found their way to Hindi cinema: Nushrat Bharucha

Dubai, March 18 (IANS) “Pyaar Ka Punchnama” actress Nushrat Bharucha, who had also featured in “Love Sex Aur Dhokha”, says content driven films have taken their time to come into Hindi cinema, but they have now begun to generate substantial business for the industry.

“Love Sex Aur Dhokha” had three sub plots — honour killing, MMS scandal and sting operations; and Nushrat was a part of the honour killing sub-plot.

Asked if she has seen a change in the content of movies since the release of the 2010 film, Nushrat told IANS: “I have been waiting for a film like ‘Love Sex aur Dhokha’ to come since then, with real stories and new characters. And it is happening again now with ‘Masaan’.”

She feels big names are now supporting films with strong content — but it has taken its time.

“It took a time with film like ‘Piku’ to even to take shape with big stars getting there and saying ‘We are doing this’. I feel that content-driven films have taken time to find their way and make sure they can do substantial business,” she added.

Nushrat shot to fame in 2011 with “Pyaar Ka Punchnama”, but had started her career through a television show in 2002 titled “Kittie Party”, but she feels that TV will “still take time to evolve”.

“I started my career with TV, so I know what it is. I think TV is still taking time to evolve. There are a few good shows, which are coming but they get negated by some not so good TV shows, Nushrat, who is here for the Times Of India Film Awards (TOIFA) said.
