Couple Dies in Ghastly Road Mishap near Manjeshwar – Child Survives

Kasaragod: Sakir (35), son of Muhammed Kunhi of Supiguri of Pavoor near Varkady in the district, and his wife Haseena (25), died in a tragic road mishap that took place near the Hosangadi Vamanjoor checkpost and auto filling station on Tuesday evening.
They were on their way to visit Sakir’s sister who had delivered a child in a hospital in Kumbla. A Maruti Ritz car, when its driver was trying to overtake a lorry, collided head-on with the Honda Activa scooter in which the couple was riding. Their 18-month-old child Shazmi was unscathed without injuries.
The collision was so severe that the helmet which Sakir wore was found broken into two part. Rash and negligent driving on the part of the car driver has been blamed for the mishap. He is said to have escaped after the incident. The police have seized the car and investigating the case.
