Dalit Congress Leaders Endorse Mithun Rai, urge DK Dalits to support him

Mangaluru: “In this Lok Sabha election, I ask all the Dalits in this district to save and protect the Constitution written by Babasaheb Ambedkar. In order to save the Constitution, the goal of all the Dalits must be to defeat BJP in the elections. The BJP’s agenda is to ruin the Constitution written by Babasaheb Ambedkar. In the last five years, there have been no schemes by the Central Govt. in order to uplift the Dalits. However, when Congress was in power, there were several schemes that were implemented for the benefit of Dalits. In the last ten years, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has not done any work that has benefitted the Dalit community. That is why we are asking all the Dalits to support the Congress MP candidate Mithun Rai”, said District Congress SC cell President Shekhar Kukkedy in a press meet held at the DCC Office, Mallikatta here, on April 11.

Addressing the mediapersons Dalit Congress leader Raghuraj Kadri said, “When Congress was in power, there were several hostels built for Dalits. This way a Dalit could study and get a government job later on. Nowadays, it is clear that the BJP is trying to ruin the Dalit community. Congress has never betrayed the Dalit community in this way. However, every Dalit must know that the actual betrayal is taking place right now.”

He further said, “Nalin Kumar Kateel has never even mentioned Babasaheb Ambedkar in his speeches. However, our candidate Mithun Rai garlanded Babasaheb Amedkar’s statue and took his blessings before submitting his nomination papers. I want to urge the Dalits to support Mithun Rai so that they have a place for themselves in this district.”

Dalit Congress leaders Premnath Ballal, Dinesh Rao, Corporator Nagaveni, Rohit Ullal, and others were also present.
