Delhi’s Haj quota must be increased, demands Sisodia

New Delhi, March 21 (IANS) Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Monday demanded that the central government increase the Haj quota for the city-state.

“We request the concerned central ministry to increase the quota for Haj for Delhi. It’s the national capital of the country, the number of applications is very huge; the quota must be increased,” he said, citing the huge backlog of applications with the state government.

Sisodia conducted the draw of lots for Haj 2016 in presence of the officers of union minorities ministry and the Delhi State Haj Committee.

The draw of lots was done electronically. Delhi has got a quota of 1,224 seats while receiving as many as 8,987 applications.

  1. Looks like Delhi govt has right priorities!! After all, who cares about water and electricity. Let’s increase the quota for our ‘vote bank’. Welcome to India – A third-world nation!!

  2. Before the State elections, the Chief Ministerial candidate, Arvind Kejriwal, had many promises to the people of Dehi. He may have not fulfilled most of these promises, but some. A glass that is half full is better than a glass that is empty or something is better than nothing.

Now, their Deputy Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia, is requesting the Centre to hike the Delhi’s quota for Hajj pilgrims, so more Muslims can go to Mecca to perform this major religious obligation that they should make, if they can, at least once in their life time. At least the Delhi Government is doing something and not embroiling itself in issues like patriotism, when they themselves, both BJP and their parent organization, RSS are pseudos, not nationalists at all but, in fact, are communal and divisive organizations.

BJP came to power not because majority of people were fond of them, but were fed up with both UPA and Congress. Subsequently, people rejected BJP in the Delhi and Bihar State elections and I am keeping my fingers crossed to see how they fare in other State elections.

Narendra Modi made grand promises to the people, but after he has come to power and though it is nearly two years, his promises were merely “no action, talk only” (N.A.T.O.).

Dr. Manmohan Singh who, I presume, must be leading a well deserved retired life, must be constantly chuckling to think that though he was not a prime ministerial material he got the opportunity to sit on the chair and fool the people for ten years, enjoy foreign trips and hospitality.

  3. Rampa, what do your heroes – such as Billa mahera and Tareqa Fateha say about the Beef Loving Party’s minions lynching people?

  4. Joker Praveena Pinto,
Why do you think Bill Maher or Tarek Fatah will have time to comment on a stray incident from a remote corner of the world when your fellow minority groups are busy spreading ‘peace’ all over world everyday making it to headlines? You should be very proud of the company you have!! Again, how does Beef Club produce so many geniuses? Amazing!!! smiles…
