Dharmasthala-bound Car Topples at Nellikar – Four from Tumakuru Injured

Karkala: A Tata Sumo car proceeding to Dharmasthala toppled at Nellikar near Hosmar on Sunday.

The car was carrying pilgrims from Tumakuru district. As it often happens, and like any others from table-land interior Karnataka, the driver seemed to be unfamiliar with the coastal terrain which has unlimited number of slopes, inclines and steep turns and curves. He lost control over the vehicle and the vehicle rolled over.

The group of pilgrims had left Tumakuru earlier. After visiting the Sigandur temple, they drove to Kollur in Udupi district. Passing through Karkala they were on their way to Dharmasthala. Speed and rash driving have been blamed for the mishap.

Four persons were injured in the incident. They are Boramma, Chittappa, Lingaraju and Krishnappa from Jangaravalli in Pavagada taluk,

The driver is said to have vanished from the spot after the mishap.
