Dinakar elected Udupi ZP Chief, Sheela K Shetty deputy

Udupi: Dinakar Zilla Panchyat member of Udyavar and Sheela K Shetty of Brahmavar Zilla panchayat were unanimously elected as the president and vice president of Udupi Zilla panchayat on Wednesday April 27.

The post of the zilla panchayat president has been reserved for the SC category this time, and the post for the zilla panchayat vice president is reserved for women (General). Out of 26 Zilla Panchayat seats, the BJP has won 20 and congress 6 seats.

Dinakar, a resident of Kannarpady Udupi, has been serving as a BJP worker for the last 20 years. Dinakar has studied up to PUC. Due to various reasons, he discontinued his studies and started working. He joined BJP after SSLC. Dinakar contested the elections for the first time from Udyavar constituency and won with a margin of 615 votes. He has served as a security guard at the district stadium on a contract basis. He has also worked as a driver to the zilla panchayat project director.

Sheela Shetty has been a member of the BJP for the last 30 years. She contested from Brahmavar Zilla Panchayat and won the elections. She has served as district women’s BJP Chief and chairperson for Karnataka State Coir Board.
