Addressing the gathering, Ramanath said, “Today we are observing World tourism day but in our district, we have sidelined tourism. Mangaluru has all the facilities like the road, railway, air and sea port connectivity but we have been unable to promote tourism. We need to attract more and more tourists to Mangaluru”.

Rai further said that the purpose of observing world tourism day is to create awareness on Mangaluru as a tourism spot within the international community and the impact on cultural, economic and social values. In Dakshina Kannada, we have rich tradition and culture, which we need to promote.

Prof Sriraj BS from Mangalore University delivered a talk on “Tourism for all – Promoting Universal Accessibility”, on the occasion.

President of KCCI Jeevan Saldanha, CEO of Panambur Beach Tourism Yathis Baikampady and others shared their views.

Deputy commissioner Dr K G Jagadeesha speaking on the occasion said, “All of you have shared very good views. We have many ways to promote tourism which are not reflected anywhere. We need to form teams with constructive people. Whoever are interested in being part of the teams can give their names. After 15 days we will call for a meeting and discuss on preparing an action plan”.

ADC Kumar welcomed the gathering. Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, Gargi Jain IAS probationary and others were also present.
