District Police all set to Ensure Smooth Dharma Sansad

Udupi: The district police have made adequate security arrangements for the Dharma Sansad scheduled to be held in Udupi from November 24-26.

Speaking to Mangalorean.com, Udupi SP Dr Sanjeev M Patil said that 2000 police personnel from Udupi district and 1400 from outside the district will be deployed to maintain law and order during the programme. As many as 4 ASP’s, 12 DySP’s and 105 PSI’s will be on duty. The services of home guards, KSRP and DAR platoons will also be utilized. Video coverage will be made during the programme in sensitive areas. Check posts have been set up across the district. The police will conduct ‘nakabandhi’ at sensitive areas, he added.

The police have already convened a meeting of the organizers and have asked them to follow the police departments instructions to maintain law and order during the programme. The SP said that the organizers have been asked not to take the law into their hands. Personnel of fire and emergency services and ambulance have been kept on alert to deal with any emergency. The SP has urged people not to pay heed to any rumours or messages.

When asked about the ban on the entry of International Working President of the VHP Praveen Togadia, the SP said that there is no any ban on Praveen Togadia to enter the district. If any persons make provocative speeches the district police will book cases against them, he added.
