DK bags 5 medals in State Wushu Championship

Mangaluru: The members of Dakshina Kannada District Wu Shu Association, bagged 1 gold and 4 silver medals in the 15th State Wushu Championship held from 25th to 28th August 2016 at Chitradurga. This Championship was organised by Chitradurga District Wushu Association under the auspices of Karnataka Wushu Association which is recognized by Sports Authority of Karnataka and affiliated to Karnataka Olympic Association.

The eight-member team which took part in the Sanshou (fighting) event of the Championship were quite new to this art but still managed to display a stunning performance at the tournament. Namrasha N Ganiga won Gold medal in her weight category and was selected for the National Championship to be held in Pune later this year. Other members who won silver medals are Maruth Alva, Zatin Deori, Bhoomika R Kumar and Syed Thafazul.

The members of D.K. team were trained by Vinod Ullal, who is also a qualified Wushu State Referee.
