Berlin, March 7 (IANS) German football club Eintracht Frankfurt has announced that it has replaced head coach Armin Veh with immediate effect as the side is struggling in the Bundesliga.

The club’s board and supervisory committee on Sunday agreed to release Armin Veh from his duties with immediate effect. Assistant coach Reiner Geyer will lead the training before Frankfurt present a new coach soon, reports Xinhua.

“The sacking was really hard as Armin Veh had our confidence till the end. Nevertheless, we need a new coach who can give the team a new impetus in the relegation battle. Eintracht Frankfurt thanks Armin Veh for his work,” Frankfurt chairman Heribert Bruchhagen told the club’ s official homepage.

Veh started his second spell at Frankfurt last summer to reap five wins, nine draws and eleven defeats from 25 Bundesliga games. As a result, the “Eagles” slumped onto the 16th place, a relegation play-off spot, with two points to safety.

Frankfurt encounter sixth-placed Borussia Monchengladbach at the 26th round in Bundesliga on March 12.
