Elderly woman slain in Italy over 10-euro debt

Rome, Oct 6 (IANS/AKI) A man has confessed to the brutal murder of an elderly woman in Sicily, claiming he killed her because she refused to repay a 10-euro loan.

Maria Ruccella, 75, died on Saturday soon after being found in a pool of blood at her apartment in Calatabiano city, earlier that day.

Paolo Cartelli, 36, who was already on a list of suspects for Ruccella’s murder, admitted to killing her on Monday.

He was arrested after his mother found blood-covered clothes belonging to Cartelli.
