‘Empire’ actress hits back at critics over ‘fat shaming’

Los Angeles, Nov 10 (IANS) Actress Gabourey Sidibe has hit back at critics who fat shamed her after she appeared in a lovemaking scene during an episode of TV show “Empire”.

Sidibe says although she is a plus size woman, she felt sexy and beautiful in the steamy scene she did in the episode, reports dailymail.co.uk.

The 32-year-old actress was seen on the show as the love interest of MC J Poppa, played by actor Mo McRae. Together, they featured in an opening scene that showed them enjoying an intimate moment on a rooftop. But after the episode aired, the Oscar-nominated actress was criticised by social media users.

“I, a plus sized, dark-skinned woman, had a love scene on primetime television. I had the most fun ever filming that scene even though I was nervous. But I felt sexy and beautiful and I felt like I was doing a good job,” Sidibe wrote in a blog.
