Ex-Star India CEO’s wife held for sister’s murder

Mumbai (DHNS): Former Star India CEO Peter Mukerjea’s wife Indrani Bora has been arrested by the Mumbai Police on Tuesday evening for murdering her sister and disposing off her body in Raigad district nearly three years ago.

Peter and Indrani had founded the INX Media Pvt Ltd but quit the managerial positions from the private equity backed company in 2009.

As CEO of Star India, Mukerjea had roped in Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan for “Kaun Banega Crorepati?”, which became a hugely popular television content in Indian TV history.

Peter and Indrani married in 2002. Indrani used to work as an HR consultant earlier. This was Peter’s second marriage. She has been arrested by the Khar police and the Magistrate Court at Bandra has remanded her to police custody till August 31.

It is reported that Indrani had conspired with her driver in 2012 to murder her sister, Shena Bora, and then disposed off her body. The case came to light when an informer tipped off the Mumbai police, which started probing the incident, and also checked with the Raigad police whether any unclaimed body of a woman had been found three years ago.

The cause of the murder is not yet known. However, several angles are being probed like property or financial dispute and association with people on which the sisters might not have agreed. The UK-born Pratim Mukerjea – or Peter has been the quintessential marketing man.
