“This was an act of political terrorism and I have to tell you how inspired I am to see the way this community has come together to continue to move forward,” CNN quoted Pence as saying.

“I wanted to come by to call attention to this cowardly attack on our supporters in North Carolina and to no less extent and attack on the American political system,” he added.

The Indiana governor is campaigning in North Carolina for a day and made the unannounced stop at the offices of the Orange County Republican Party.

The firebomb was thrown on the night of October 15 through a window of the Republican office, charring furniture and campaign posters, but caused no injuries, the police said.

A swastika and the phrase “Nazi Republicans get out of town or else” were also spray painted on an adjacent building.

“Animals representing Hillary Clinton and Dems in North Carolina just firebombed our office in Orange County because we are winning @NCGOP,” Trump had tweeted on October 16.
