Five arrested in Charan Murder Case

Mangaluru: The CCB police arrested five persons in connection with the murder case of Rowdy Sheeter Charan here on August 23.

The arrested have been identified as Mohammed Rizwan (28), a resident of Shivanagar Moodshedde, Mohammed Rahim (19) from Kelarai, Nawaz (23) from Gurupur, Mohammed Sharukh (20) and Mohammed Mustafa (19) from Moodshedde.

On August 19, Charan was killed by a group of five persons, who came in a Bolero bearing registration number KA 19 MF 5640, they waylaid the Autorickshaw in which Charan was traveling. While Charan tried to escape all the five chased him and hacked him with machetes. Severely injured Charan was rushed to the hospital by his wife where he breathed his last.

The police immediately formed three teams to nab the culprits. On August 23, at Panemangaluru Tollgate all the five were arrested by the CCB police.

Old enmity led Rizwan to kill Charan along with other four Accused. A case has been previously registered against Rizwan for his involvement in a crime, in the Kollur Police station in Udupi. A bike theft case has been registered against Mohammed Rayeef in the Mangaluru North police station.

Police have seized the vehicle which was used by the accused for the crime. All the accused have been shifted to Mangaluru Rural police station for further investigation.

CCB Inspector Sunil Nayak, PSI Shyam Sundar and team participated in the operation and arrested the accused.
