Flex Banners Shaming Politicians Negligence towards Drinking Water Crisis Adore City

Mangaluru : A day after Mangaluru city Corporation announced a revised water rationing system, where residents will get only three days of water supply, environmentalists/activists have hung flex banners at a few prominent places in the city shaming the elected representatives/Netas for their negligence towards drinking water crisis. The messages on the banner condemn the injustice meted out in the name of Yettinahole project. The Yettinahole project is aimed at supplying water to parched districts.

With the images of all the eight MLA’s from DK district, namely MLA Mangaluru South Vedavyas Kamath, MLA Mangaluru North Dr Bharath Shetty, S Angara ( MLA Sullia); Sanjeeva Matandoor ( Puttur); Harish Poonja ( Belthangady); Umanath Kotian ( Moodabidri); Rajesh Naik ( Bantwal) and U T Khader -district minister in charge, a warning message has been incorporated saying “The voters elected you not to roam in expensive cars. there is no water for the people of the district. The MLA’s must sit on a dharna in front of Vidhana Soudha opposing the Yettinahole project. If not possible, tender your resignation and sit on fast unto death and prove that you are genuine Janasevaks”

In yet another flex banner, with images of Chikkaballapur MP Veerappa Moily and Union Minister Sadananda Gowda, a message reads, “An attempt is made to destroy the lifeline of the district for a desire to claim commission from Rs 13,000 crore project”. The message further states that the people who are in deep slumber are welcoming Veerappa Moily and Sadananda Gowda for making people drink recycled water. The banners also warn MCC to not remove the banner on Yettinahole, until other illegal banners are removed in the City. It threatened of countering those who remove the banners with slippers.

All these banners accuse leaders of Congress, as well as BJP for allegedly destroying forest in the Western Ghats for the Yettinahole project.

  1. It’s time people react and show the elected representatives to work seriously and not to take the public for granted.
