Four Men Demanding Donations in Moodbidri Arrested

Moodbidri: Four persons arrived in a car without number plate and walked into an electronics appliances shop here on Thursday.

They presented invitations to a function proposed to be held in Thokkottu in Mangaluru on the forthcoming Independence Day. Donations were being collected in aid of distribution of wheel-chairs to differently abled children during that event.

The shop-owner, since the men were strangers, refused to give any amount. In response, they are said to have threatened him. The owner informed the police, who arrived and took the four persons into custody.

They have been identified as Rajesh (29) and Charan (29) of Thokkottu, Roopesh (32) of Uppinangady and Prasad (33) of Ullal. A case has been registered against them. It is yet to be investigated if the collection was being made for a genuine cause.
