Free Hernia Screening Program at KMC Hospital, Attavar

Mangaluru: Hernia is an opening or weakness in the muscular structure of the wall of the abdomen. This defect causes a bulging of the abdominal wall. Any activities that increase intra-abdominal pressure can worsen a hernia; examples of such activities are lifting, coughing, or even straining to have a bowel movement. Symptoms of a hernia include pain or discomfort and a localised swelling somewhere on the surface of the abdomen or in the groin area. The Surgery Department of KMC Hospital Attavar is pleased to announce free Hernia Screening program for patients suffering from Hernia from 16th to 20th of June 2016.

Serious complications from a hernia can result from the trapping of tissues in the hernia. Trapped or incarcerated tissues may have their blood supply cut off, leading to damage or death of the tissue. The treatment usually involves surgery.

The Dept. of Surgery at KMC Hospital Attavar will be organising a Free Hernia screening program at its premises on 16th, 17th, 18th & 20th of June 2016 between 9:30 am to 4:00 pm.

Patients suffering from Inguinal Hernia, Incisional Hernia (abdominal hernia that occurs after surgery) and Umbilical Hernia can make use of this camp.

Surgical services including Open as well as Laparoscopic surgeries can be opted by the camp patients.

Furthermore, in order to do a complete evaluation, under special circumstances for poor patients (BPL Categories) with credible evidence of financial constraints, the entire cost will be waived off (as per discretion of hospital authorities).

Medical Superintendent KMC Hospital Attavar has requested the public to avail the benefits of this camp.
