French press excited about Zidane coaching Real Madrid

Paris, Jan 5 (IANS) The French press was excited on Tuesday by the appointment of Zinedine Zidane as the Real Madrid head coach, while noting the challenges of the football legend’s new mission with a very demanding team that is going through a difficult situation.

“Real” is the title that filled the cover of L’Equipe with a picture of Zidane, elegant in a black suit and a pin of his team logo on it, reports Efe.

The sports daily said that “the best French player ever was enthroned yesterday on top of the most prestigious club” to replace Rafael Benitez, “dismissed for lack of results”.

Le Parisien also carried a cover entitled “The crazy challenge of Zizou” with a picture of the former French star.

“He has not trained a professional club in his life. However, Zinedine Zidane has been entrusted with the future of Real Madrid, one of the biggest teams in the world,” said the popular daily.

The newspaper questioned whether this was the right move and the answer, which came from the reactions of his former French teammates, is that despite the immense burden on his back, he is enthusiastic and his support is widespread.

Le Figaro declared “The time has come for Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid” and believes that his promotion “appeared inevitable” since the defeat on November 21 by Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabeu 0-4 in La Liga.

Zidane’s appointment as coach of Real Madrid was also the highlight of many French radio and television shows this morning.
