Gang of robbers busted in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad, Sep 13 (IANS) A gang of robbers has been busted and five stolen vehicles, weapons and other articles seized from them, police said on Sunday.

Acting on a tip, police conducted a raid on Saturday and nabbed six robbers from Murad Nagar area.

During interrogation, they confessed to their crimes and revealed their identities as Intezar, Monu Tyagi, Pintu, Pawan, Amir and Johar — all residents of Ghaziabad.

Four motorcycles, a car, four locally-made pistols, a mobile phone, a chain and iron rods were seized from them.

The gang members told the police that they attacked commuters with iron rods while they were travelling at night on the village link roads and snatched their belongings.

They were produced before a magistrate who sent them to judicial custody, said Superintendent of Police (Rural) R.K. Pandey.
