Beijing, June 11 (IANS) Gionee launched its flagship ELIFE E8 and Marathon M5 smartphones here late on Wednesday.
The flagship ELIFE E8 comes with a 24-MP rear camera supporting upto 120 megapixels of resolution. The phone has a dedicated camera button, 8 MP front camera and the magic focus feature. The E8 will run Android 5.1 out of the box and is powered by a Mediatek 6795 octa-core 2.0 GHz CPU.
Along with biological (fingerprint) recognition system, the phone also offers Dual SIM 4G, 6-inch WQHD Super-AMOLED display, 64GB memory and a 3GB RAM. It also has NFC, dual speaker, HIFI Sound along with a 3,520mAh battery that will support fast charging.
On the other hand, the M5 will ship with a 5.5inch HD AMOLED screen along with a 13 MP rear and a 5 MP front camera. The device will run Android Lollipop out of the box and will have an internal memory of 16GB backed by a 2GB RAM unit. The phone will also support dual LTE.
“Both M3 & E7 have seen massive success in the Indian market and with the announcement of the power packed M5 and next gen E8 we are sure that the Indian smartphone market will experience the future technology today,” said Arvind.R.Vohra, India CEO & MD, Gionee Smarthphones at the sidelines of the launch.
According to Gionee, the M5 can be charged within a short time and is also capable of reverse charging which is it can be used as a power bank to charge two cellphones at the same time.
“The battery problem has been a key pain point of most mobile phone users for a long time yet there is no perfect solution. Gionee is willing to work on it and now we have M5,” said William Lu, Gionee president.
The handset-maker also announced its cooperation with WeBank to launch the Gionee Wallet. According to a release, “the company will work to build a reliable vertical ecosystem based on the personal mobile devices”.
The Marathon M5 is priced at Rs.23,600 (approx) and the ELIFE E8 at Rs.41,000 (approx).
