Gold, car stolen from Doctor’s house in Thottam

Udupi: Gold jewellery and a car were stolen from a doctor’s house in Thottam Pavanjigudde on Monday during the wee hours of July 4. According to sources, Dr Devadas Bhat and his wife were in their house in Pavanjigudde.

Both were in deep sleep. Around 4.30 am, two men covering their faces with handkerchiefs entered the house and tied the couple with ropes. They then opened the almirah and took away 10 gold coins, 2 gold bangles and other valuable items from the house.

The robbers also took away a Hyundai i10 car. A little later, the couple called their neighbours for help and also called the police. The police along with a dog squad and fingerprint experts visited the spot. Senior police officials also visited spot.

Dr Devadas Bhat runs a clinic in Kemmannu. Police suspect the involvement of persons known to the couple. A case has been registered in the Malpe Police Station.
