Addressing the mediapersons Jayaprakash Hegde said that there is not much progress under the ‘Akarama Sakrama’. The State government should immediately take action to solve the problems in 94C and 94CC. He said that the 9 and 11 problem, is bothering only Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts and the State government should pay attention to solve this problem. The new mines policy which came into existence on August 12 is a blunder. The State government has not paid any attention to formulating a separate sand policy for the coastal districts, he added.

The service roads adjoining the newly built national highway should be set right. The service road at Koteshawar should be widened in order to avoid possible mishaps as it is the center of three junctions. He also demanded that the jurisdiction of some police stations in the district be rearranged.

Replying to the query over Karnataka Bandh Jayaprakash Hegde said that the State government has to obey the Supreme Court order. However, it should also take up the debate over the order to discuss the consequences. He also extended his support to the agitators taking part in the Statewide bandh following the release of Cauvery water to Tamilnadu.
