Govt will consider demands for new taluks: Kagodu

Belagavi, (DHNS): Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimmappa informed Legislative Assembly on Monday that the process to carve out 50 taluks in the state will be completed by January.

The state government will consider demands for new taluks in addition to the 50 already announced, Revenue Minister Kagodu Thimmappa informed the Legislative Assembly on Monday.

Replying to a question by T Ramamurthy (Cong), Thimmappa said the government plans to complete the process of creating 50 new taluks, which had been already announced, by January next year.

However, there have been demands for more taluks and the government will consider them if they are feasible, he said.

Ramamurthy sought taluk status for Parashuramapura in Chitradurga district, D N Jeevaraj and C T Ravi (both BJP) sought carving out of Savali taluk in

Chikkamagaluru district and Appachu Rajan (BJP) demanded formation of Cauvery taluk in Kodagu district.
