Hassan: Rs 65 Lakh Looted from Bank’s ATM Filling Staff near Belur

Hassan: A gang of robbers waylaid and assaulted the security staff engaged in filling cash in Corporation Bank’s ATM near Hagare in Belur taluk of the district around the weekend.


They took away Rs 65 lakhs from the two security personnel, Sagar and Honnappa. They were severely injured in the attack and are being treated in the government hospital.

They said that as they were arriving from Hassan towards Belur to fill the bank’s ATMs with cash, a gang of 5 or 6 men who arrived in a car banged and waylaid their vehicle at Hagare around 1-30 pm. They got down from the car, assaulted them with lethal weapons and blindfolded them.

They were taken to Hampapur highway in K R Nagar taluk in Mysuru district and abandoned them. Thereaftrer they fled in their car with Rs 65 lakh. Sagar and Honnappa managed to reach K R Nagar police station to file a complaint.

The police from Belur arrived and began investigations. A case has been registered at the Halebeedu police station since the crime occurred under its jurisdiction.

Different police teams have been constituted to track down the culprits. Yet, the police are looking at different angles regarding the possibilities and also the veracity of the story.
