Head Constable found hanging in police quarters in Kalaburagi

Kalaburagi: This is the fifth case of suicide or attempt to end life by Karnataka police officers this month.

Annarao Saibanna Gamaga, a Head Constable in Kalaburagi Indian Reserve Battalion, allegedly committed suicide in the KSRP quarters on the outskirts of Kalaburagi on Friday. Annarao’s family members found him hanging at the police quarters in the morning.

Annarao, who was attached to the Indian Reserve Battalion II in Vijayapura, was not happy and had applied for transfer back to KSRP battalion in Kalaburagi. Annarao hailed from Chitapur taluk in Kalaburagi district.

This is the fifth case of suicide or attempt to end life by Karnataka police officers this month. DySP Kallappa and DySP Ganapati had committed suicide earlier this month. Sub-inspector Rupa Tambad in Vijayanagar and Hassan assistant commissioner E Vijaya also had attempted suicide.
