Shimla, Feb 18 (IANS) The hills of Himachal Pradesh on Thursday saw a marginal rise in the mercury owing to the dry weather conditions but the weatherman forecast more rain and snow before this weekend.
“There are chances of snow and rain at many places n the state on February 19-20,” said a meteorological department statement.
It said the minimum temperature in the state has increased by one to two degrees in the state since Wednesday, while the maximum by two to three degrees.
Chances of snow in the upper reaches of Shimla, Kullu, Kinnaur, Lahaul and Spiti and Chamba districts were high, it added,
Areas near Shimla like Kufri and Narkanda and popular tourist resort of Manali are also covered under a thick blanket of snow.
Meanwhile, Keylong in Lahaul-Spiti district was the coldest town in the state with a low of minus 6.5 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperatures in Shimla and Manali were 8.2 degrees Celsius and zero degree, respectively.
Kalpa, some 250 km from Shimla, saw the night temperature at one degree Celsius.
