Inciting Speech during Krishna Janmashtami, Kasaragod HIV Leader Arrested
Bantwal: The Vittal police arrested a man on September 21, for delivering inciting speech against other religion during the Sri Krishna Janmashtami on September 9 at Kadambu.
The arrested has been identified as Manjunath Udupa (32) district Secretary of Kasargod Hindu Ikya Vedike.
According to the police, on September 9, during the Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations at Kadambu in Bantwal Taluk, Manjunath was the chief guest. In his speech, Manjunath insulted other religion and delivered an inciting speech. The organizers had not taken the permission for using the loudspeakers. In this connection a case was filed against the organizer Chethan Pedimale, compere Bhasker and the guests Suresh Kottari, Varadraj Kottari, B K Krishnappa Salian and Ramesh Poojary in the Vittal police station by the administration committee of Kadambu Juma Masjid. Since then all the accused were absconding. Except for Manjunath Udupa and B K Krishnappa, all the other accused had obtained bail on September 11 and reported to the police station.
Accused Manjunath was involved in a Kidnapping and a case was filed against him in the Adur police station. Manjunath is a native of Tumakur district and was an aide of Kasargod BJP Pramukh Ravish Tantri. The Adur police had searched for Manjunath in Mulleria, Gadigudde and Kuntaru since he was working as the branch In-charge of Kaniyoor Math.
For centuries, Hindu religion has been mocked and attacked by Abrahamic religions. The ‘false gods’ and ‘idol worshiping’ are the two main talking points used over and over in these centuries. In fact, many Hindu temples were destroyed by the followers of these religions. Nobody got arrested for this ‘hate speech’. The same type of double standards are being applied on majority Christians in Western world. They are held to a much higher standards while minorities are given pass in every incident. This is the failure of liberal democracy. I hope our society learns from these mistakes and don’t encourage ‘populism’. nobody wins in a populist, fascist society.
