OLA Taxi Driver Assaulted at MIA, 3 Arrested

Mangaluru: Three Taxi drivers have been arrested by the Bajpe police for assaulting an OLA cab driver at the Mangalore International airport here on February 13.

The arrested have been identified as Mohammed Thaseen (50) from Moodferar, Abdul Rahman (41) from Bajpe and Usman alias Abbas (38) from Narlapadav.

According to the police, on February 13, Rathan Shet had come with his OLA cab to the Bajpe International airport and had parked his cab at the OLA stand. One of the flight passengers came to the stand to book his cab.

The accused Mohammed Thaseen, Abdul Rahman, B S Nasir, B K Haneef, Nawaz, Abbas and Usman followed the passenger and assaulted Rathan Shet using foul language. They also threatened Rathan with life.

In this connection, a case was filed in the Bajpe police station under section 143, 147, 341, 504, 506, 323 and 149 IPC and three of the accused Mohammed Thaseen, Abdul Rahman and Usman alias Abbas were arrested.

  1. Just arresting would be useless. Their car permits should be cancelled and their license and badge withdrawn. That would be the most fitting action from the authorities. Rowdyism should be dealt with a heavy hand.
