Social Activist Sowraj Exposes Fake Transgenders Harassing Public at Kadri Park

Mangaluru: Persons dressed as transgenders were exposed by social activist Sowraj at the Kadri Park here on October 4.

Speaking to mangalorean.com Sowraj who is a social activist said, “On October 4 at around 2:30 pm, when I parked my the car in front of Kadri park and was relaxing, I saw a man dressed like a transgender sleeping over another transgender. After some time the fake transgender got up and went near a girl and started to trouble her for money. When she refused to respond he started to touch the girl and harass her. Later when the fake transgender came near my car. I asked him where was he from? The fake transgender spoke in Hindi and said that he was from Mumbai. I got suspicious about his behaviour”.

Sowraj further said, “Now in our beautiful Mangaluru many youths do not work, they dress up like transgenders wearing colourful wigs and fool people. Both of them were drunk and troubling people who had come to the Kadri Park. These fake transgenders also stand at Toll gates and collect money. When I asked the person’s name he said, he was from Sattar and his name was Gopi. Gopi was dressed like a transgender when I exposed him. We have don’t mind real transgenders begging since no one gives them a job, but such people who are able to work, taking advantage dressing like transgenders and begging should be stopped. The police should take action against such people. Many youths come to Mangaluru to make money, they dress like transgenders and harass people. The public should be aware of such people and the police should take action against them”.

Speaking to mangalorean.com Secretary of Parivarthan Charitable Trust Sanjana said, “Because of these fake transgenders we face a lot of problems. Fifteen days ago when one of our transgender was begging in the park people said that a transgender had already collected money from them. Since I was nearby, I immediately went to the Park and found a balloon seller acting like a transgender and collecting money from the people in the park. I exposed her and warned her not to create problems for the real transgenders. We need to join hands with the social workers and police to curb the menace of fake transgenders. Because of such people we, the transgenders face a lot of problems. Nowadays many youths dress like women in the evening and fool people. I request the public to identify such fake transgenders and report to the police. We, the real transgenders will surely cooperate in this work”.

Sanjana further said, “Sowraj has done a very good job by exposing the fake transgenders who are bringing a bad name to transgenders and to this beautiful city Mangaluru. We have also noticed some males wearing female attire during the night and fooling people, they also indulge in pickpocketing and theft. There is a need to put an end to this, we need more Sowraj’s along with the police to curb such illegal activities. After Parivarthan Charitable trust was formed people started to respect transgenders but such incidents bring a bad name for the transgender community.”

  1. The police are employed to protect the society and not to look after and escort the MPs and MLAs.

It is their job to patrol all public places such as the bus stands, bus terminals, railway terminals, railway platforms, gardens, parks, the beaches, cinemas, supermarkets, fruits and veg markets, fish markets, etc. all the time.

Why should the public call or report to the police, when it is their primary job to keep safety and security in check at all times?

Transgenders should be banned from harassing the public for money or should be *******d if they go off limits – the police will not be there
    to protect anyone.
