WOSU Premiere Public Media Ann Fisher interviews Harold D’Souza in America
Ann Fisher Host, Executive Producer of Premiere Public Media WOSU-NPR 89.7 invited Honorable Harold D’Souza to share his views on prevention of Labor Trafficking in the United States of America and globally.
All Sides with Ann Fisher, interviewed Harold D’Souza on February 28th, at Columbus, Ohio, at a two-hour, daily public-affairs talk show designed to over time touch upon all sides of the issues and events that shape life in central Ohio. Labor trafficking in the United States of America is just the tip of the iceberg said Harold D’Souza. Most of the victims are male immigrants, they do not fight this slavery, just for fear of law enforcement agencies as well as the stigma, and shame attached to being a male victim. They are manipulated, tricked and trapped by the perpetrators.

Ann Fisher shared; More than 5,000 human trafficking cases — most involving sex trafficked female victims — were reported in the U.S. last year. Ohio ranked fourth in human trafficking in the country, behind Florida, California and Texas, according to the National Human Trafficking Resource Center. The problem is nationwide, but big-time sports events attract a concentration of opportunity for sex traffickers. Harold said that his passion is to be the voice, courage, hope and freedom for victims by creating awareness in India on human trafficking, with prevention and education, and by sharing his own journey of freedom.
Harold D’Souza in his interview with Ann Fisher said; “Perpetrators in America create fear on the immigrants using four words, I will get you arrested, handcuffed, jailed and deported. For any common man to survive in the United States of America you need four things; State ID., Work Permit, Social Security Card, and Freedom”.
Victims of human trafficking are human beings if you just look, listen, learn and love fifty percent of the trust is built in the first meeting.
Never underestimate the power of a common survivor. The biggest delight for a survivor is to see their kids happy. Harold D’Souza native of Bajpe, Mangalore spoke to Ann Fisher, that his is an arranged marriage, this itself speaks volume of our culture, trust and faith. Harold D’Souza has two sons Bradly and Rohan D’Souza, his wife Dancy D’Souza are all advocates against human trafficking.
Care is an expression of love while control is an expression of ego. Control cuts but care connects. Control hurts but care heals. Keep caring for survivors but don’t try to control them because often time survivors are not wrong, they are just different. Survivors behavior looks negative, but their intentions are good. Survivors are poor starters but strong finishers.
