How did Jasjit become Jimmy in Bollywood? 

Mumbai, July 9 (IANS) There is a still a part of the hit 1996 film “Maachis” that actor Jimmy Sheirgill is carrying with him and that is the name of his character.

When the actor along with colleague Irrfan Khan came on the sets of “The Kapil Sharma Show” to promote their forthcoming film “Madaari”, Jimmy shared how his name was changed.

“While shooting for my first film ‘Maachis’, my character name was Jimmy and I liked that name very much,” Jimmy said in a statement.

He added: “Everyone around me started calling me Jimmy and hence I changed my name to Jimmy from Jasjit. Even today the starting credits of the movie ‘Maachis’ mention my name as Jasjit Singh Gill… But then onwards I changed my name to Jimmy.”

The episode with the stars will air on Sunday on Sony Entertainment Television.


Pooja Banerjee to marry Mrunal Jain in reel life

Actors Mrunal Jain and Pooja Banerjee, who are currently seen in fantasy drama television series “Naagarjuna – Ek Yoddha”, will be getting married on the show in an upcoming episode.

Pooja, who essays Noori in the Life OK show, will agree to marry Rajbir (played by Mrunal) so as to safeguard her love interest Arjun (Anshuman Malhotra) whose life is in danger.

The actress enjoyed shooting the sequence.

“It seems as if I was marrying for real. Everyone around me wanted to have a picture with me, from my co-actors to make up guys as they aren’t used to seeing me so dressed. I felt like a showstopper. It took me four hours to get ready as a bride… It was tiring,” Pooja said in a statement.

“Naagarjuna – Ek Yoddha” also stars Anshuman Malhotra and Nikitin Dheer. The episode is set to air next week.


Shubhangi Atre to tease Aashif Sheikh on ‘Bhabi Ji Ghar…’

Actress Shubhangi Atre is excited about exploring the “chhichhora” (naughty) side of Angoori Bhabhi — her hugely popular character in the comedy television series “Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain!”.

In an episode, Shubhangi’s character will be seen teasing co-actor Aasif Sheikh’s character Vibhuti.

“It will indeed be a pleasant surprise for the audience of ‘Bhabi Ji…’ who will witness a role reversal. Angoori will be seen teasing Vibhuti, but he will be running away from her. I will be seen teasing Aasif ji in the upcoming episode and believe me, it was a lot of fun.

“I hope the audience appreciates this ‘chhichhora’ side of Angoori,” Shubhangi said in a statement.

The show, which airs on &TV, is inspired by 1995 hit Hindi serial “Shrimaan Shrimati”.


Sania Touqueer to head to school in ‘Waaris’

Social Drama “Waaris” will soon have Sania Touqueer’s character Manpreet going to school.

A track in the &TV show will see Manpreet winning a challenge and then she will ask her mother Amba to let her go to school. Amba, though skeptical, has to agree to Manpreet’s demands as it was a part of the challenge and as she cannot go back on her own word.

“I am excited for the school track. I missed my school friends and wearing a male school uniform is so different. But I am enjoying it too,” Sania said in a statement.

The show is about a girl child who is raised as a boy.
