Husband Assaults Wife with weapon, commits suicide
Beltangady: A man committed suicide after a deadly assault on his wife at Kolpeda Bailu Maladi here on October 20.
The deceased has been identified as Shaji (45), a native of Kerala, residing at Kolpeda Bailu Maladi, Beltangady Taluk.
Shaji was employed in a Rubber tapping firm and his wife Ruksana (name changed) was working in a beauty parlour. Shaji was involved in criminal activities and cases have been filed against him. Shaji and Ruksana had rented a house in Kolpeda Bail, they always used to fight for silly reasons.
On October 19, both Shaji and Ruksana started to fight. Shaji in a fit of rage assaulted Ruksana with a weapon. Ruksana was severely injured but Shaji left her alone and left the house. Neighbours rushed Rukshan to the government Wenlock hospital. In this connection, a case was registered in the Punjalkatte police station.
On October 20, Shaji consumed poison and committed suicide. Locals informed the police about Shaji, the police reached the spot and shifted Shaji’s body for postmortem.
A case has been registered in Punjalkatte police station.
It is learnt that Shaji was earlier staying in Laila in a rented house. While he was staying there, he had abused a woman and while Ashok a resident of the area questioned him, Shaji had attacked Ashok with acid. Beltangady police had then registered a case and sent Shaji to jail.
