Udupi: “I have followed my dharma and hosted the Iftar programme in the Sri Krishna Math and I stand by it”, said Pejawar Sri Vishwesha Teertha Swamiji. He was speaking after meeting the founder of Sri Ram Sene Pramod Muthalik who has warned of protests against the Swamiji for hosting the Iftar at the Shree Krishna Math.

Swamiji further said, “I have condemned the attacks on the Hindu community but at the same time, tolerance and brotherhood with the other religions have to be followed. It is my policy to follow tolerance and brotherhood among all other religions and I will continue to follow the same”.

Swamiji also said, “The Muslim community has stood with Sri Krishna Math, they have expressed their solidarity with us during the Udupi Chalo movement and their cooperation during the Paryaya celebrations is commendable. As it was Ramadan eve, a celebration was hosted to distribute prasadam to them. It is a programme of expressing solidarity it should not be given a communal colour. Hosting Iftar cannot effect the Hindu religion but it will define the richness of Hindu religion in following tolerance and brotherhood.

They urged for Namaz during the Iftar and likewise, we made the arrangements in the dining Hall of Sri Krishna Math which is a public place. The controversy is created saying that Muslims are consuming beef, Hindus are also consuming beef. We can ask them not to consume beef but we cannot discriminate saying that they consume beef.

In 1904 a Seer was accompanied to the house of Haji Abdullah. There are instances of good relationships with Muslims, he said.

When asked on Pramod Muthalik’s statement saying Ganeshotsava and other festivals are not celebrated in the Mosque, Swamiji said that Muslims have called him for preaching in the Mosque and he also said that he was also invited to inaugurate Mosques in Bhatkal, Udupi, Kasargod, Mangaluru and other places.

  1. Swamiji Sri. Vishweshateertha did the right thing through sowing the seeds of harmony in the society now fully fractured by the new Government at New Delhi.

The President of India invited the Cabinet Members for the Iftar party, but none of them showed up. This is the real picture of real national intolerance operating from New Delhi, and teaching the nation to follow that path to national anarchy.

  2. If the beef eating people are outcasts for the radical holy rulers of India now, how PM Modi is visiting the nations of beef eaters, and hugging the sinful beef eaters? Is that contrary to his religious conviction?

  3. Who needs certificate from folks like AS Mathew who personifies all the hatred taught by his foreign masters? Shri Pejaavara Swamiji did the right thing to highlight the tolerance sanaathana dharma. Mr.Muthaalik is also right in exposing the double standards of minorities in India who keep attacking Hindoo community.

  4. Reply to Real Truth Matters: Thank you for reading my comment. Do I need your certification to speak the truth? Why you are talking about the foreign masters while talking about an issue within India? Anything wrong if I did compliment the service of nobility and friendship undertaken by a well respected personality of Hindu religion? How many lynching every month in India? Do you think that the minority population of India are living in peace now? You may say ” that is our domestic matter”. According to your research, the foreign countries taught hatred; then why PM Modi is repeatedly traveling to those countries? Is it to change their sinful nature and to convert them as holy people? Real evangelism! Please remember, when we try to live in the past, it will be creating troubles in the society.
