Inderpreet among best junior hockey goalkeepers: Captain

New Delhi, Aug 16 (IANS) Indian junior women’s hockey captain Rani Rampal has praised goalkeeper Inderpreet Kaur as among the best in the world.

“Inderpreet Kaur is a very important player of our team and her strength is the key factor in our defence line,” said Rani.

“She is amongst the best junior goalkeepers in the world, and she has proved her mettle in the Volvo Invitational Under-21 tournament.

“In the upcoming tournament with her under the bar, we are more confident of defending ourselves against our opponents. She has the ability of a quick reaction time which helps us to keep the opponents from scoring.”

The team is currently preparing here for the Junior Asia Cup scheduled to take place in Changzhou, China, from September 5 to 13. The nine-team tournament is also a qualification event for the 2017 Junior World Cup.
