India opens medal account; wins gold, silver in cycling

Guwahati (PTI): India opened their medal account with cyclist T Vijyalaxmi grabbing the first gold of the 12th South Asian Games in women’s 30km individual time trial final on the first day of competitions here today.

The Manipuri cyclist won the event in 49 minutes and 24 seconds. India also won the silver with Chaoba Devi, also another Manipuri, finishing the final in 49 minutes and 31 seconds.
