Jagadish Karanth of HJV Barred from Entering Somwarpet in Kodagu
Madikeri: Kodagu revenue deputy commissioner and ex-officio district magistrate Anees Ahmed has issued an order barring the entry of Hindu Jagarana Vedike state convener Jagadish Karanth into the northern town of Somwarpet on Friday, April 15.
As an extension of Ram Navami observance, a stage programme was scheduled to be held on Friday between 5 and 6 pm. Sensing the possibility of a hate speech and its backlash in the district, the DC has issued the order.
There have been instances of that kind following fiery speeches by the likes of Karanth in the past. The DC has also ordered that no stage programme of any kind be held in Somwarpet on the date.
Besides, the order also prohibits screening or playing any recorded speech of Karanth’s. The bursting of fire-crackers in town too has been barred, according to the order.
