Japan flood toll rises to five

Tokyo, Sep 13 (IANS) The toll in floods which devastated Japan this week rose to five on Sunday as rescuers continued their search for over a dozen still missing, the media reported.

The National Police Agency said a man was found dead in a submerged car in Tochigi city on Sunday, NHK news agency reported.

This brought the number of deaths in Tochigi prefecture to three.

Two other people were killed in Miyagi prefecture.

A total of 29 people have been hurt across 10 prefectures.

Search operations have continued with a total of 1,800 rescuers, including police, firemen, and the Self-Defence Forces (SDF,) scrabbling to find 15 people still missing from the town.
