Javed Ahmad is new UP police chief

Lucknow, Jan 1 (IANS) Senior IPS officer Javed Ahmad was on Friday named the new director general of police of Uttar Pradesh.

The 1984-batch officer was serving as director general (Railways) before his elevation to the top post.

He is the eight director general of police in the last four years of the Samajwadi Party government of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. He has over four years left for retirement.
